Why should I feel discouraged

Why should the shadows come

Why should my heart feel lonely

And long for heaven and home

When Jesus is my portion

A constant friend is He

His eye is on the sparrow

And I know He watches over me

His eye is on the sparrow

And I know He watches me

I sing because I'm happy

I sing because I'm free

His eye is on the sparrow

And I know He watches me (He watches me)

His eye is on the sparrow

And I know He watches

I know He watches

I know He watches me

I sing because I'm happy

I sing because I'm free

His eye is on the sparrow

And I know He watches me (He watches me)

His eye is on the sparrow

And I know He watches me (He watches me)

He watches me

I know

He watches

Me

Civilla D. Martin, 1905:

Wandering Sparrows

Upon the winding road of life

we often lose our way;

For many are the pitfalls that

beset us day by day.

We're just like wandering sparrows;

We're adrift in foreign places;

the doubts and fears are evidenced

by frowns upon our faces.

Like birds we soar to places high

where everything is right

Only to descend again

into a darker night.

Faith makes us try and try again

to do our very best

for each and everyone of us

must feather his own nest.

Remember when you're all at sea

and every pathway narrows

God heals the ones who turn to Him

the lost and wandering sparrows.
